One of my favorite ways to encourage creativity during the holiday season is by providing my students with fun Christmas writing ideas that allow them to express themselves in a positive way. Also, they make really adorable bulletin board displays too. This is the first year that I’m not responsible for teaching my class writing.

Although I love the fact that I can just concentrate just on the reading aspect of ELAR but I miss the cute writing activities. So I decided to create something for my coworker that teaches 5th-grade writing.  I would suggest using these fun Christmas writing ideas with grades 2-6th. Of course, you can adapt it to meet any grade level.

Last year I created this free persuasive writing packet that was a huge hit with my 3rd graders and my readers.

These fun Christmas writing ideas focus on the compare and contrast concept. Younger children can just complete the compare and contrast graphic organizer and older students can complete the writing activity after they complete the graphic organizer.
