What can you do at home on New Year’s Eve?

Our family enjoys staying home on New Year’s Eve to avoid the craziness of the evening. We feel like it’s just a safer bet to enjoy a New Year’s Eve party at home with festivities. Over the years we have discovered many New Year activities that remain a tradition in our family. It’s always fun to have the children decorate our home with balloonsparty hatsconfetti, and party blowers. Some years the children make a Happy New Year banner to hang up. We love playing card games, watching movies, and lighting fireworks while we wait for the New Year countdown at midnight. Playing bingo is always a hit. I’ve bought dollar store purchases that include candystickerstoys, and supplies for fun crafts. We have worked on a puzzle for one year too. Much fun happens every year.

Learn About The Auld Lang Syne

I think putting a little history into the Happy New Year is always a fun idea. Learn the words of this famous song and what it means. Did you know that The Auld Lang Syne originated as a poem?
