This review was made possible by iConnect and Pampers. I was provided compensation to facilitate this post, but all opinions are 100% mine.

I distinctly remember the evening I was in the hospital after undergoing my third C-Section with my 6th child. I was in tears because she wasn’t nursing at all, and they needed to put a tube feeder in a vein in her tiny head.

Oh my!

In all honesty, it looked more terrible than it actually was, but you try telling that to an almost hysterical postpartum mom who is both sleep deprived and hormonal.

I remember the nurse came in to check on me, and I busted into tears and started sobbing uncontrollably. The crazy part was that I couldn’t tell her what was wrong. I was just crying like a baby.

This was supposed to be a happy time, right?

I felt not one ounce of happiness and actually felt embarrassed that I was acting like a crazy one.

The nurse sat on my bed and hugged me. She didn’t question my temporary insanity. She just massaged my back and shoulders for about 10 minutes. She didn’t talk to me; she just selflessly loved on me.

After the massage, I was all better.

Who knows how insanely I would have acted the rest of the evening or days to follow, but this busy nurse took me under her wing and gave me the gift of her time and love.

She was my hero.

I will be forever grateful for that special Postpartum nurse. She made a real difference. I believe there are numerous selfless nurses that go unnoticed for their attentiveness and huge hearts. Nurses are truly lifesavers.

Pampers is launching the Thank You Nurses Awards program to honor spectacular nurses in three categories: Labor & Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and Postpartum.

Do you have a story about a nurse that made a forever impact in your baby’s life?

If so, Pampers is encouraging parents to  share their heartwarming stories of nurses who helped make life #betterforbaby by submitting a nurse nomination to the Pampers Swaddlers Thank You Nurses Awards.

There will be three finalists; one in each category: Labor & Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and Postpartum. Finalists will be announced in March and the grand prize honoree will be announced in May.

The three finalists will be encouraged to share with the world a short documentary video honoring their unique and inspirational nursing stories. Also, they will receive a one-year membership to the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN), attendance at the 2016 AWHONN Convention, Procter & Gamble care packages, and more. You can check out the full prize details here.

This is so AWESOME to me! Pampers Swaddlers scholarships will generously be made available to help nurses from underrepresented groups complete their studies toward a Master of Science in Nursing degree. Wow!
