One of my goals this year is to have pure contentment with the desires of Gods plans for me.  This hit me like a load of bricks after reading the Part 1 ~ Contentment study in the Woman of Excellence free bible study.  BTW, this is an incredible bible study that I have been working on.  In fact, I plan to read over it every new year to encourage me to strive to be a woman of excellence in God’s eyes.  So, if you are interested in striving to be a woman of excellence, not perfect, then this is the study for you.

So how do you describe contentment?   My first thought was…  Being ok with something.  However, dictionary.com has other thoughts…. read all of the 4 definitions here.

Ease of mind made me really ponder the true meaning of contentment.   If I truly have contentment than  I will have a ease of mind with what God has chosen to put in my path.  Not just accepting it, but have an ease of mind by knowing God, not me,knows what is best for me.  I beg to differ at times and plead otherwise, but deep down I must believe this is His plan for me.

How will I achieve true contentment?  Read  Phillipians 4:11...  Paul learned to be content.  Did you read that??  Read it again.. I must ask God to teach me contentment.  That is my daily pray this year.  I want to strive for true contentment.

Paul tells us in Hebrews 13:5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Take a moment to read Matthew 6 and 1 Timothy 6:8. There are two, maybe even three, basic needs in life — food, clothing, and a place to stay. That is all we NEED. (We won’t get into whether food includes steak for every meal, or whether clothing means two closets full, or whether a place to stay means a mansion.) This is simply where we need to start to find our basic contentment; anything over that is to be considered an extra blessing from God (but not to be counted on).

God, please teach me to be content with all the circumstances that you place before me.  Help me to accept that you know what is best for me, despite what the secular world portrays.  Help me to appreciate all the additional blessings you give to the undeserving me.  Thank you for your grace.
