This an old post, but I thought we could all use a good reminder. Ouch! Yes, I need to practice what I preach.

Once again, the Holy Spirit spoke to me during my early morning devotional. I was reading thru Proverbs this week. Somehow, I stumbled across this little devotion in Matthew in my new Woman’s Devotional Bible 2 that I bought this week. It really made me realize how I have shown a lack of hospitality towards my boys friends/guests.

My dh and I want so much for our home to be the one that everyone wants to be at ~ in other words, a safe haven for all of our children’s friends. BUT I have to admit I have had a hard time lately…. Opening my home to toy-oriented hands and feet isn’t appealing to me.

More clean up!

It’s not the tons of kids that bother me… It’s the afterwards clean up that I might possibly have to do.

Jesus said ” Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such these. ” Matt 19:14

Wow!

Have I really allowed children to come to our house, willingly? Maybe sometimes if it is convenient for me. But have I really showed hospitality toward them that Jesus did?

Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. 1Peter 4:9

Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. Heb 13:2

I now realize if I want my house to be the “cool, fun house” I must show more hospitality towards our guests.

Regardless of their age.

We have been blessed with a wonderful house with lots of outdoor fun. I need to show my appreciation by allowing my children to fellowship with others. Regardless of what my house might look like afterwards. Can you only imgaine? I have 5 boys of my own!

So, bring all you kids over this weekend so we can use our house for God’s glory.

Oh, I will be at a Ladies Retreat but my husband will be home with all the boys and Princess.
