The Strawberry Secret!

Does it make you want to pull your hair out when you open your strawberry carton and a few of those precious babies have more hair than your husband?

It really irks me!

Our whole family adores popping a strawberry in their mouth for a sweet snack!

But often we forget about the carton of fresh expensive strawberries because somehow they migrate to the back of the fridge.

I found the solution.

And it’s tried and true!

I bought these beautiful strawberries 12 days ago!  Don’t they look perfect?

Here is the strawberry secret!

Wash them with vinegar!

  • When you get your berries home, prepare a mixture of one part vinegar and ten parts water.
  • Dump the berries into the mixture and swirl around.
  • Drain, rinse if you want, but not necessary.
  • Store in the fridge.

The vinegar kills any mold spores and other bacteria that might be on the surface of the fruit.

Raspberries will last a week or more, and strawberries go almost two weeks without getting moldy and soft.

And your so BERRY welcome for this frugal tip!  LOL!

Have you tried the strawberry secret yet?

Make Your Own Unleavened Bread with your Children!

One of our favorite churches that we used to attend makes their own Unleavened Bread each Sunday.

We had an Unleavened Bread committee and each of us took turns making the Lord’s Supper.  It truly is a blessing to make.  I always have my children help me, too.

I have kept the recipe for our own family’s time of worship.  It makes a lot, so you can freeze the left overs or you can just eat it because it is quite tasty!

For  I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; 24 and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” I Corinthians 11-23-24

I pray this recipe is a blessing to you and your family.  Feel free to share!

We are going to partake in the Lord’s supper this Holy Week!

Do you know how to teach your children to eat veggies?

Beets and Swiss Chard Recipes!

I love going to Sunflower Marketand picking up organic produce that we can’t get at our local grocer.  My forte is making a veggie dish that my family will actually eat.  I am blessed that we really only have 1 picky eater out of 6 blessings.Actually I have zero tolerances for the picky one.  He just starves…  Just kidding…
The two recipes that we tried this past week are …
I loved this and so did my dh.  I served this with Tilapia and brown rice.  I made it a little zippy, too.  Big hit!
I doubled the recipe and the crew gobbled it up.  It had a wonderful sweet and sour type glaze covering the beets.  Even the dogs liked it!  3 points well eaten!
