What God Expects from Me!

The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becomes holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. -

Titus 2:3-5

Characteristics of a Godly Woman

    • Sober-minded –  physically and mentally
    • To act in love towards their husbands and children
    • Discreet and lack of gossip
    • Chaste – in behavior and dress
    • Keepers at home -our main priority should be the home
    • Being good – doing what’s right even when it is uncomfortable, unpopular, and inconvenient
    • Obedient to their own husbands

Biblical femininity is unpopular and most would argue politically incorrect. The world tells us we can have it all from a tangible standpoint.  The nice house, husband, children, luxury car, vacation, and career.

And there is nothing wrong with those things if you don’t sacrifice what God expects from you spelled out in Titus 2: 3-5.

We all have choices to make and sometimes it’s SUPER hard!

As Christians, we know it’s our duty to follow not the world, but the Word of God.

This is by far one of my favorite books that teaches true to God’s Word!  It’s a must read and would make any excellent mother/daughter bible study.

I often struggle, but by His mercy alone, I can start fresh each day that I beg for forgiveness.

In what areas do you struggle the most as a homemaker whether you work in or out of the home?

Beets and Swiss Chard Recipes!

I love going to Sunflower Marketand picking up organic produce that we can’t get at our local grocer.  My forte is making a veggie dish that my family will actually eat.  I am blessed that we really only have 1 picky eater out of 6 blessings.Actually I have zero tolerances for the picky one.  He just starves…  Just kidding…
The two recipes that we tried this past week are …
I loved this and so did my dh.  I served this with Tilapia and brown rice.  I made it a little zippy, too.  Big hit!
I doubled the recipe and the crew gobbled it up.  It had a wonderful sweet and sour type glaze covering the beets.  Even the dogs liked it!  3 points well eaten!
Do you have any favorite veggie dishes that your family raves?

Marie Madeline Studio – Review and Giveaway!

I fell in love with Marie-Madeline Studio products the moment I clicked on their website.  I was attracted to their vibrant, fun fabric that I knew I had to share with all of you.

If you love to sew or quilt, you will adore Marie-Madeline Studio.  This is a warning!  (:  The Long Sisters have adorable boutique items, as well.

They have patterns, bags, ladies’ apparel, girls’ apparel, aprons, and much more that you can browse on their website.

Marie-Madeline recommended that I select one of their easier patterns to review since I am considered a beginner sewer.  Since I love wearing an apron in the kitchen, I chose the Chic Sister Apron pattern.

Next, which was the most difficult task of this entire review was to pick a fabric and one to contrast.  Do you know how hard this was?  It literally took me a few days to decide.  I finally chose from the Ooh La la fabric line.

Marie-Madeline Studio high-quality designer fabrics make lovely quilts, bags, aprons, clothing, and more!  The fabric is all 100% cotton quilting weight fabrics, 44/45″ wide (unless otherwise noted). The fabric is sold in half yard quantities.

Free swatches available upon request!  Just email the Long Sisters and they will happily respond. They were very gracious and sweet to correspond with.  They were a joy to work with.

I washed and pressed my fabric like suggested before I began my project.

I had so much fun making my “adorable” apron.  Yes, I am boasting because I actually made something that looks cute!

My son was away at my parents when I made it.  When I was wearing it, he asked me who bought me that apron.  Ha!

My favorite part of the apron is the flounce.  It just makes the apron so femine along with the waist band.

Next time, I will definitely make the medium instead of the large.  As you can see, it’s a bit too big for me.  But it’s still cute!

Also, make sure you trace your pattern before cutting or you will lose your instructions.  I made the mistake and had to tape it back together and photo copy the instructions.  It was another one of my rookie sewing mistakes that I won’t be making again!

I learned several new sewing techniques while working this pattern.  I have never had any formal sewing instructions and had no idea about darts.  It’s a great beginner pattern.  It’s was a bit challenging for me, but I managed.

Now for the most exciting part!

Marie-Madeline has graciously offered one of my readers a Chic Sisters Apron pattern and the the fabric to make one of these adorable, feminine aprons for yourself.  Believe me you will want to keep it for yourself and then make several for gifts.

I will choose a winner on June 25 at 12am.  Complete the Rafflecopter to be entered!  Have fun!

Did I Really Live….

This beautiful song truly touched my heart written and sung by Cherie Norquay, one of my readers.  I feel honored she asked me to share with you all.

So many of us, have sacrificed fancy cars, big houses, and prestigious jobs in the workforce to raise our children at home.

Often we go unnoticed.

No one seems to take note of…

our sparkling toilets

the countless dirty diapers we change

the boo boo’s kissed

the extracurricular activities attendance

the bedtime stories read

the loads of laundry washed

the healthy meals cooked

However, the Lord notices every little thing we do, including our sparkly toilets.

He has called us to the most important career that has existed for women with the most extraordinary benefits.

Raising Disciples for His glory.

Embrace it and Live it!

Happy Mother’s Day, dear ones!
