Welcome to Day 5 of the 5 Days Back to Homeschool Blog Hop.

Today we are discussing Homeschool Co-ops!

We have always been blessed with every homeschool co-op that we have participated in the past.

However, during this season we are choosing not to participate in one for various reasons.  I decided to write the pros and cons that we have experienced through the years of participating in local homeschool co-ops.

PROS

  1. Socialization
  2. Being held accountable other than with Mommy
  3. Assigned Homework
  4. Students exposure to subjects that you are not gifted in
  5. Use your gift to train other students
CONS
  1. Takes away from your normal routine
  2. Extra work for the teacher – time consuming
  3. Commitment
  4. Can be very costly – especially for large families
  5. Hard to manipulate with a 5 Day Full Curriculum
However, I believe co-ops are wonderful if they meet your family needs.  I do believe it would be easier for us if we were not a large family.  Getting 6 kiddos out the door isn’t always an easy task before 8am.
What’s your experience with homeschool co-ops?
