Teaching our Children the God of Creation

This is a sponsored post.  All opinions are 100% my own.  Read my full disclosure.

creation1

As  Christian homeschool parents, one of our goals is to teach our children the truth about creation.

God is the creator of all things.

It’s very difficult to find science material at a library written from a Christian point of view, not to mention, it’s nearly impossible to find biblical information on the internet.

We resorted to and absolutely love nature studies in our home.  Each one of my 6 children have their own nature notebook.  We go outside when the weather permits to discover how mighty our God of Creation truly is.  I believe we can strengthen  our relationship with the Lord by studying his marvelous creations.

Our nature studies got a big boost when we received several editions of Creation Illustrated.   Creation Illustrated is the Christian alternative to National Geographic.  Each Creation Illustrated is divided into 3 sections: Creation Illustrated in Nature, in Scripture, and in Living.  It is designed to assist all ages in worshipping our Creator and getting outdoors to soak in the magnificent lessons our Lord wants us to fathom.  There are so many spiritual lessons to be learned by studying nature.

Creation Illustrated Mission Statement:

Our purpose is to share the wonders of God’s creation. By revealing fresh insights of His infinite wisdom, gentle touch, undeniable justice, redeeming love, and flawless design, pure truth shall bring renewed peace. Each part of this publication is offered as a reprieve from the daily rigors of life so that all can look to the future with unbridled gratitude and hope.

Creation Illustrated delivers a new issue every quarter.  It’s filled with beautiful illustrations that will capture your entire family’s interest.  It’s filled with recipes, scripture, testimonies and life applications written from an encouraging Christian perspective.  I absolutely love the fact, that the editor/publisher is a Christian homeschool family.  Since they homeschooled themselves, they have included in each issue an Instructional Guide designed to help students integrate and embrace the spiritual lessons that can be taught through God’s Creation.

How it Works for Our Family

We have enjoyed these magazines numerous ways the past weeks.  I have read them aloud to all the children after one of my children chooses an article of interest.  My 8 year old was intrigued with, The Jesus Worm.  The message is this article was spiritually deep and fascinating to us all based on Psalm 22. You must read it!  He loves to look up all the Scripture references in his own Bible.  Then we looked up the Jesus worm known as the Coccus illicis on the internet.  Talk about an amazing study.

We have also all just sat around browsing older issues of Creation Illustrated at leisure as a family, too.  It’s fun to narrate the articles to one another and talk about the spiritual lesson.

We plan on doing plenty of nature notebook pages with this inspiring resource in the future.  Creation Illustrated is a wonderful addition to any Christian household.
