I’m a member of a gym, but sometimes I just can’t fit the time into my busy schedule to stop by the gym on my way home from teaching.

Being a single mom certainly doesn’t put me off the hook for not taking care of myself from a physical fitness standpoint, but I admit that there are some days I just want to go home and encourage my kids to eat a bowl of cereal for dinner while I veg with a book. Maybe I should rephrase that last statement and say…most days. Not some days!

I’m just being real!

My kids tend to motivate me when my gym days don’t work out for me.

At times, it’s fun for the kids to work out with me in the living room. They usually give up after the first 10 minutes, but it makes me feel energized to know that I’m instilling the importance of exercising on a daily basis into the mind of my little ones.

Sometimes I like to go for a walk in the neighborhood, but when the weather doesn’t permit, I love to have a variety of workout DVDs.

The key is…a variety.

Here are some workout DVDs that I own and a few on my wish list. I encourage you to read the reviews to see which ones are right for you. Some are harder workouts than others, but all will encourage healthy weight loss. All of these workout DVDs are popular on Amazon with great reviews.

There’s nothing worse than being bored with your workout. I know if it’s not FUN, I will have a tendency to skip my workout altogether.

I recommend working on the same DVD for a week and then switching off after you established your favorite ones. It’s always fun to have a variety especially if time is an issue.
